I was too lame as to actually be there in person, but Idiot Pilot played a show at the Nightlight in Bellingham, Washington on the 23rd (as previously reported) and I’m hearing pretty good reports about the new song debuted there.
According to elementbomber of the Official Idiot Pilot Boards, the new song was called “Suprise!”. He described it as “…really good. it was a dance/funkish song.”
So what Michael told me at the Bottletree was correct. He told me something along the lines of “the new stuff has a cool funk/R&B feel.” As of right now a recording from the show hasn’t surfaced, but if one does we’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, enjoy some blurry photos from elementbomber’s BlackBerry!
It has been made explicitly clear by the Idiot Pilot camp that new material will be played tomorrow at the Nightlight show.
“some more facts about the show:
- idiot pilot have rehearsed at least two songs that may make their live debut at this show - hopefully there will be time for both!”
(Paul Turpin @ Official Idiot Pilot Board)
And…
“Tomorrow night I am playing a show here in Bellingham [...] I have it from an inside source that new songs may be played.”
(Daniel Anderson @ Daniel’s Blog - How Long To Sing This Song?)
These are the times when I wish I lived in Bellingham, or at least somewhere a tad closer to the action. Someone will surely youtube some vids for us less fortunate souls… won’t you?
ps. The flyers for the show look pretty neat too. Click it to make it grow… magically.
So there’s been a small period of live show rest for Idiot Pilot lately but they’re breaking the hiatus by performing with their old time friends No-Fi Soul Rebellion at The Nightlight on August 23rd.
From Daniel’s Blogger.com blog:
So this band of mine, you know, Idiot Pilot, is playing a show in Bellingham, Washington on the 23rd of August. I am very excited about this and I want all of you reading to make sure and come out that night for the party. It is going to be taking place at The Nightlight, which is no longer a bar but is now functioning as an all-ages venue, awesome. Also, we are going to be playing with our good friends from No-Fi Soul Rebellion that night.
So just to summarize:
It’s been a little while since my last update and I’ve been garnering some ideas for the near future. I believe I’ll have something pretty sweet in store soon for the Idiot Pilot faithful out there so hang tight!
What I really dropped by to say though was that I now have the ability (though it probably won’t happen very often) to update IdiotFans via my phone. Due to the glorius invention that is the Apple App Store I can update the site on the go, as I am now, on my iPhone with relative ease, which is pretty cool.
The only time I see this being a viable means of updating would be possibly at a live event where a laptop would be out of reach and I was desprate to give breaking information, but it’s still cool to have the option!
Ps. Just realized I can also upload pictures from my phone, etc. which makes me appreciate this application much more as I previously thought I could only make text updates through it. Glory, glory, halleluja.
Stay tuned.
So on my way to Florida this weekend for a little family trip I spent a lot of time re-listening to Wolves and this time I was very focused on the lyrics. This is a good thing because one, I’ve never truly corrected a lot of mistakes in the lyrics on the old version of the site, so I can now say I am sure they are correct (or 99%) and secondly, this lead to a realization.
WOLVES ASKS A LOT OF QUESTIONS. LITERALLY.
At first notice of this I got all excited and thought perhaps I had found some intentional lyrical trend throughout all the songs … until I noticed a few songs didn’t in fact feature questions in the lyrics.
Oh well. Either way, here is a list of the questions asked in Wolves, in order:
I for one enjoy Daniel and Mike’s inquisitive nature. Now take these questions and go ponder dear readers. Ponder.
Ok, so looking around you may be disappointed to see a site that is now far less stylized then the previous site. I’m sorry for this, but when problems with my host caused catastrophic site damage, I realized the true flaw of the original IdiotFans site. The flaw? All focus on aesthetics, none on true upgradability or functionality. The site was a pain to update. Every single page besides the front page with news feed was static. The only dynamic aspect of the whole thing was the news feed.
I am proud of the original IdiotFans design as far as designs go, but I have grown as a web developer and realize now that a strong foundation is the most important thing. Flexible and dynamic sites are the ones that truly are fit to grow and expand for long term future use, so with no further ado I grant you IdiotFans 2.0. It may not be flashy, but it works, and will be much easier to update. I am using the WordPress platform as a CMS, and look forward to the future.
New site features include:
So there you have it. I will still be working on ideas to make the site more aesthetically pleasing, but for now I’m just glad we are back up and working. Have patience while I work through some kinks that will inevitably arise.
