On the 9th of this month Idiot Pilot gave fans that stuck around their Justin.TV live rehearsal session a special treat. During the bands “break” they traveled over to a local bar in Bellingham, WA (The Wild Buffalo) and Michael performed a number of songs. There were a few covers, and some originals, including Idiot Pilot songs. Michael also took requests from the online audience at one point.

Well that night’s performance is now online in it’s entirety forever. Enjoy!

New Idiot Pilot single: “The Tail of a Jet Black Swan”

Idiot Pilot recently made their new single “The Tail of a Jet Black Swan” available for download off of their website. In my opinion the song is absolutely amazing. If this is a sign of what is to come with their third album then I believe Idiot Pilot will be pulling in a lot of new fans very soon!

The track has been made available on a “donate as you please” basis. I urge every fan to donate at least $1 and show Idiot Pilot that we are behind them and their efforts with this 3rd album.

Idiot Pilot’s The End 107.7 interview available for download

For those of you that missed Idiot Pilot’s interview and new single debut on local Seattle station, The End 107.7 last night, I have made it available to you for download.

The interview doesn’t expose anything we didn’t already know, but it’s still exciting to hear the guys out on the promotion trail again. I’m looking forward to seeing how their ”secret Jedi plan” works out, and am super eager for the next album!

Idiot Pilot to debut NEW SONG Sunday night!

IdiotFans.net was just given an exclusive tip that Idiot Pilot will be debuting a brand new song on Seattle radio station 107.7 The End, Sunday night. The day after, Idiot Pilot will make the track available for download on their website, presumably for free.

Idiot Pilot will be on air sometime between 9pm-10pm PST Sunday night.

On Sunday, March 14th Idiot Pilot will be the guests on 107.7 The End’s “Locals Only” program to debut a brand new song in conjunction with their appearance at SXSW on March 17th. The song, which will be self-released, is going to be available for download starting Monday, March 15th on their website and will also be streaming on their Myspace page and the 107.7 The End website. Links to these sites are included below.

Idiot Pilot Rarity : Whisper Track

During the recent live broadcasts that Idiot Pilot have been streaming of their rehearsals I’ve had a lot of time to interact with other Idiot Pilot fans, true fans that want everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) put out by Idiot Pilot – even the silly stuff. I thought it’d try to make that dream a reality wherever legally possible by serving up some creations lost in time.

In August 2006 Idiot Pilot was featured on Mark Hoppus’ now defunct internet radio show HiMyNameIsMark, and the duo contributed this little gem which is a parody of the Ying Yang Twins song “Wait (The Whisper Song)“.

Idiot Pilot rehearsing live 7pm PST all week

Idiot Pilot announced on their website recently that they will be live streaming their rehearsal sessions over the internet for all of us eager fans to peek in on. I joined for the second (I believe) session last night and it was a blast not only to see Daniel and Mike do their thing together again, but also to interact with other Idiot Pilot fans.

Interesting nuggets:

1. Idiot Pilot has a new touring drummer, and they have also decided to add a bassist. It was very interesting to see a full 4 piece at work considering in the earlier days Idiot Pilot played live with only Mike and Daniel while relying on the computer to fill in the rest.

2. During rehearsal the band would mute the audio feed while practicing new material, but it was suggested that if you stay around until the end of the week, they may practice new material openly to fans. That would be the first time fans got a real listen into anything off their upcoming album. Exciting stuff!

The biggest fun of the night didn’t come until after rehearsal ended when fans stayed after and jumped over to idiotfans.net’s justin.tv page and continued talking and getting to know each other, along with trading Idiot Pilot rarities. It was a pretty awesome night.

We laughed, we cried, things even got frisky. People got engaged. It was a truly amazing time and we plan on trying to make it happen again tonight after Idiot Pilot’s rehearsal. Hope to see you there!

I was recently forwarded a press release by the band’s management that sheds a little more light into the details of Idiot Pilot’s SXSW showcase, including a tidbit that says the show will be 21+ only. The release also lists the other bands in the showcase. (Scroll to the bottom for SXSW info):

Idiot Pilot Launch New Beta Website, Confirm SXSW Date.

This week Bellingham, WA based post-hardcore electronica band Idiot
Pilot re-launched their online presence with a beta version of
their new website (www.idiotpilot.com) on Friday, February 19th. In a
message to be posted on
the site Lead singer Michael Harris stated that the band will “be
updating as frequently as we can, and will eventually be doing a
complete overhaul to satiate your visual and auditory needs.” He also
went on to say, “It has been a long journey, and many paths have been
traversed. Thank you for continuing to listen in.” The new site includes a
blog style homepage with up to date information from the band itself,
an extensive discography, recent photos and much more.

This comes on the heels of the confirmation of their South By South
West (SXSW) Music Conference Showcase show in Austin, TX. They will be
playing Wednesday, March 17th, the opening night of the music portion
of the conference, at Jamie’s with UK bands My Tiger My Timing,
Middleman and Doll and The Kicks. More information is listed below.

More announcements will be made over the coming weeks in regards to
Idiot Pilot’s appearance at SXSW as well as information about new
material that the band is currently working on.

The Ghost and the Grace 2nd Album Promo

This is a bit of news I let go too long before reporting. Blame it on a busy schedule. Anyhow, Daniel Anderson of Idiot Pilot recently posted a video promoting his new work on The Ghost and the Grace’s second album. And here it is for you all:

This album sounds like it’s going to be amazing, and much different from the first.

Idiot Pilot site updated, SXSW announced

It’s been a long while since Idiot Pilot has really stood out and said much official or got involved with fans like the old days, but that could all be changing soon as they have just recently put their website back up and are sporting a full redesign.

Sexy!

The site features a post by Michael Harris of Idiot Pilot welcoming everyone to the new site he also announces that Idiot Pilot will be showcased at SXSW this year in Austin, Texas. Pretty exciting stuff.

I would love to go just to see Idiot Pilot as it is within reasonable range of my hometown, but SXSW currently doesn’t allow one day passes, and tickets to the entire music portion or the conference are running $700+ at this point in time. Either way, it’s still an amazing opportunity for Idiot Pilot to reach new ears and become better networked.

I’m excited to hear and see more as they hopefully will be offering more to see and hear in the near future!
